Monitor your JAMB CAPS for Admission: Institutions Tell Prospective Students
Nigerian Universities have begun the admission exercise for the 2025/2026 session. The admission process commenced early, in line with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board guidelines on admissions and timelines.
The admission process involves compiling and recommending the names of eligible candidates for admission to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for processing in the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
Institutions that have already begun the process have instructed prospective students to monitor their JAMB CAPS for admission and accept accordingly.
We have provided a step-by-step guide on how to accept admission on JAMB CAPS using SMS.
What Candidates Must Do
Prospective candidates who have fulfilled all preadmission requirements in their institutions should monitor JAMB CAPS for admission updates.
Candidates who haven’t been admitted yet are advised to update their CAPS entries. Check and confirm that their O’level and other relevant documents required for admission are properly uploaded and updated.
Why It’s Important to Accept Admission Early
Monitoring and accepting admission early gives you an added advantage over your peers who are also seeking admission. Below are some of the reasons why candidates must accept their admission early:
- Secured Slot: Most institutions have limited slots for admission. They usually give little time (about a week or two) for candidates who have been offered admission to accept their admission. This allows institutions to identify and allocate slots to serious candidates. Candidates who fail to accept their admission on time risk losing their slot to their peers.
- Early Clearance Preparation: After admission, institutions often conduct a clearance exercise for newly admitted students. This clearance involves certificate verification, eligibility tests, and payment of academic dues. Candidates who accept their admission early will have more time to prepare their documents ahead of the clearance exercise.
