The University instructs candidates who have received an admission offer in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to accept their admission offer before 11:59 PM on Wednesday, October 2029, or risk forfeiture of such admission.
The university also added that candidate who failed to accept their admission offer before the stipulated deadline will be considered to have rejected the offer. Consequently, defaulting candidates will lose their admission, and their slots will be given to other applicants who are still awaiting admission.
The institution further stressed that this notice serves as a reminder for all prospective students who have chosen to study at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) to take immediate action, as admissions offers on the JAMB CAPS are sensitive to time, and where candidates failed to accept their offer within the specified time, they could be disqualified from gaining admission into the university for the 2025/2026 academic session.
OAU Encourages Candidates to Regularly Monitor Their JAMB CAPS
The Management of Obafemi Awolowo University went further to advise prospective students to monitor their JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to know their admission status. Stating that in the previous years, a lot of students lost their admission slot because of their failure to access their CAPS and accept their admissions offer early.
To avoid being a victim of admission forfeiture, candidates are therefore urged to visit their JAMB eFacility portal and take the following steps to check their admission status.
- Visit the JAMB e-facility portal, and log in using their registered email and password.
- Click on “Check my admission status” to see if you are offered admission.
- If offered admission, use the JAMB SMS shortcode service to accept their admission (See instructions on how to accept admission using SMS).
Candidates must note that Admission into the Obafemi Awolowo University is only valid after being accepted on the JAMB CAP and verified on the university portal.
What Happens If A candidate fails to accept His/Her Admission
Candidates who fail to accept their admissions offer before the deadline will lose their slots. Consequently, the affected candidate’s name will be removed from Abafemi Awolowo’s official admission list for the 2025/2026 session.
As the university works to align with JAMB’s policy to ensure all available spaces are utilized in Nigerian universities, the institution may allocate slots to candidates who failed to accept their admission to other qualified applicants on the waiting list. So all prospective students are encouraged to act accordingly.
